Secure Your Spot for Meet the Firms

A longstanding University of Arkansas 鈥� Fort Smith tradition returns, offering business students a view of a possible future.

Meet the Firms, an annual fall career fair, is a recruiting and networking event for College of Business and Industry students majoring in accounting and finance. The event will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20, in the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, Reynolds Room, and is hosted by the Babb Center for Career Services.

Assistant Professor of Accounting Dr. Randall Stone shared that historically, Meet the Firms turns the age-old adage 鈥榠t鈥檚 not what you know, but who you know鈥� on its head. According to Stone, the event highlights what 91自拍 students have learned and shows where they might use it.

鈥淥ur goal as educators is for students to come to 91自拍 for an education that will prepare them to be career-ready when they graduate,鈥� he said. 鈥淢eet the Firms is what I call a 鈥榯riple-win.鈥� It鈥檚 a win for our students who will meet one-on-one with potential employers, companies seeking new talent and interest to hire alums, and our community when our students graduate with a job where they live.鈥�

The primary goal of Meet the Firms is to open doors for students to have a job offer in hand one to two years before graduation. During the fall 2023 event, students can meet with more than a dozen regional and national companies, such as Tyson Foods, ArcBest, Deloitte, Landmark PLC, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
