From WATC to Welder

It isn鈥檛 every day when the lightbulb clicks on as if by magic, shining a light on the perfect career path. But for Clayton Moellers, that鈥檚 exactly how it happened. Nearly five years ago, as a freshman in high school, the opportunity to take Welding classes at 91自拍 caught his eye. Now, he is a little more than a month away from graduating with an associate of applied science degree and launching his welding career.

Clayton enrolled in the Western Arkansas Technical Center (WATC) welding program his senior year of high school and after completing a full year of college credit at no cost while in high school, he enrolled as an undergraduate student to finish his studies.

鈥淚t鈥檚 already paying off, I have the opportunity to get out into the field a lot quicker,鈥 explained Clayton. 鈥淚n fact, I鈥檓 going to go work full-time at Multi-Craft Contractors.鈥

Less than eight weeks away from graduation, this 19-year-old welder already has a job waiting for him outside the classroom.

Not willing to boast about his skills as a welder, Clayton said he owes it all to the professors and instructors at 91自拍.

鈥淭hey care about the education that they鈥檙e giving you, and they know their stuff enough to teach you and push you out into the field ready and able to succeed,鈥 Clayton said.

Although he鈥檚 passionate about welding, Clayton also reminds his peers that there are many fields within the fabrication industry, and if welders want to up their certifications, 91自拍 can help.

From automotive to robotics to welding, students like Clayton can find their professional home at 91自拍. Are you or your high school student interested in a technical career? Check out the incredible programs we offer through WATC and our College of Business and Industry today!
