91自拍 music faculty perform during a Music Faculty Showcase concert last year.

A group of accomplished music faculty at the University of Arkansas 鈥 Fort Smith will treat local residents to a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31 as part of the university鈥檚 Season at The Blue Lion.

 

The performance 鈥 which will take place at The Blue Lion at 91自拍 Downtown, located at 101 N. 2nd St. 鈥 will feature numerous faculty members in the university鈥檚 Department of Music.

 

Performers include Dr. Andrew DeBoer performing on the clarinet, Dr. Christopher Barrick performing on the saxophone, Alice Brooks Sanders performing on piano, Dr. Elizabeth Momand performing soprano vocals, Nanthis Mathis performing soprano vocals, Dr. Scott Tomlison performing on the trumpet, Evan Mino performing on the horn, Ginny Hudson performing on the flute, Don Bailey performing on the saxophone, and Dr. Stephen Husarik performing on the piano, among other performers. Sandy Sanders, mayor of Fort Smith, will serve as the master of ceremonies.

 

The event, which is held twice yearly, has become a 鈥渧alued tradition鈥 at the university, according to Barrick.

 

鈥淭he Music Faculty Showcase at 91自拍 has become a valued tradition in the Department of Music,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t is indeed an honor for the music faculty to give back to their students, the 91自拍 campus, and the River Valley Community by sharing their talents. We are quite blessed to have such a talented group of instructors working with our music students, and they are hard a work preparing a terrific performance.鈥

 

The concert is part of the university鈥檚 Season at The Blue Lion, a lineup of musical performances held at the university鈥檚 downtown venue featuring local and nationally-recognized musicians.
