Sixteen camps offered this summer through the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will give local children and teenagers the opportunity for fun in the areas of music, science and engineering and athletics.

Music Camps

 

June 12-16: Summer Band Camp for entering grades 7-12, directed by Dr. Alexandra Zacharella and featuring Dr. Shannon Kitelinger from San Diego State University as guest conductor. The camp will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day. Fees are $210 for commuters and $410 for residents. Scholarships are available for the All Region and All State student musicians, children of 91×ÔÅÄ faculty and staff, and incoming 91×ÔÅÄ music students.

June 26-30: Jazz Band Camp for entering grades 9-12, directed by Dr. Christopher Barrick and held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day. The camp is open to all band and jazz band instruments and will include a Friday night concert. Fees are $210 for commuters and $410 for residents. Scholarships are available for the All Region and All State student musicians, children of 91×ÔÅÄ faculty and staff, and incoming 91×ÔÅÄ music students. STEM Camps

 

July 10-14: LION Imagination for entering grades 5-6 and held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. each day. In the camp, students will explore areas of applied technology, engineering and science through exciting, hands-on projects. Fees are $40 which includes a T-shirt, project materials and snacks. The camp is sponsored by the College of Applied Science and Technology and the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at 91×ÔÅÄ, in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. Aug. 1-2: Regional Workforce Grant Camp for incoming high school students participating in the university’s Regional Workforce Grant program, held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day. In the camp, students will design a project while learning mechanical and industrial engineering principles while also utilizing industry software. The camp is for younger players looking to improve their overall volleyball skills. June 14-16: Volleyball Elite Camp for boys and girls entering grades 8-12. The camp will challenge the players in all aspects of the game by focusing on all of the fundamentals of forearm passing, serving, setting, blocking, attacking and defense. Fee is $180 for residents and $150 for commuters. The camp, which is held at different times each day, is designed for student athletes that have completed their athletic eligibility but who have not attended a tryout session before at 91×ÔÅÄ.
